Hum Buddhist mantra

Hum (or in Tibetan, hung)

Hum (or in Tibetan, hung) is blue. Placed at the heart center, it represents the Dharmakaya or Truth Body. It stands for Enlightened Mind, associated with Akshobya and the vajra.

A Buddhist mantra evokes and invokes qualities of the Awakened mind.

Seed syllables are the quintessence of mantra, and the ultimate condensation of the Dharma, containing infinite meaning in a single syllable.

In Buddhist tantra the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are each associated with a seed syllable.

When visualizing a Buddha, one begins by visualizing such a syllable, which then melts into light and transforms itself into the Buddha — hence the term 'seed syllable'. This caligriphy was done by Phakchok Rinpoche,
